GVCS is a standards-based, public school of choice and serves TK-12 students living in Ventura, Los Angeles, Kern, and Santa Barbara counties. GVCS families prioritize personalized learning for their TK-12 student(s), with parents serving as the primary educators on a day-to-day basis. GVCS is WASC accredited and, as a public school, attendance is free for families.
The main office is located in Ventura and GVCS serves students in Los Angeles, Ventura, Kern, and Santa Barbara counties.
Students attending GVCS are educated by their parents through individually designed curricula. Parents can select from a variety of curricula for their TK-8 student(s) from our approved vendor list and/or curriculum from the GVCS resource library. High school curriculum is more structured, offering multiple options and levels for each course, as detailed in our current High School Catalog. GVCS provides an extensive resource library for all students where parents can check out curriculum materials at no cost.
GVCS serves students in grades TK-12.
Each GVCS student is assigned a CA credentialed teacher called an Education Facilitator (EF). The EF is there to support the parent and help make sure the student is making adequate and appropriate progress towards mastery of the grade level state standards. You and your student will have a meeting with your EF at least once every 20 days. Meetings can be conducted in the student’s home, our school, or some other agreed upon location.
Parents may choose from many types of curriculum for their K-8 student from our approved vendor list. Curriculum must be aligned with state standards and secular in nature, as we are a public school. High school curriculum is a bit more structured, with multiple curricular options and levels to choose from for each course, as described in our current High School Catalog. GVCS also has an extensive resource library that parents may visit to check out curriculum. Curriculum from the GVCS library can be used at no cost to the family.
GVCS provides instructional funds to help assist with the purchase of curriculum and educational activities from our approved vendor list. Funding varies from year to year per grade. Your EF will manage these funds and will approve all purchases you’d like to make.
